Parents busted for running prostitution ring from family home
BATON ROUGE- A set of parents were arrested and charged with running a prostitution ring from their home on Colonel Allen Court Wednesday.
Police said Charles and Kaelice Smith were busted when an undercover detective found an ad on the website backpage.com, soliciting sex. Investigators said the wife was selling herself on the site.
The Smiths have two kids, a 7-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. According to the arrest report, Kaelice Smith said when men come over for sex, Charles takes the kids for a ride. But, on the day they were arrested, she said her husband just left to go pay bills with money she made from prostituting.
Family members who spoke with WBRZ News 2 said the kids were going to be cared for by their aunt. Kaelice Smith's father said he was shocked about what happened.
