BATON ROUGE - The Pete Maravich Center was packed with a record number of attendees Friday night to cheer on the LSU gymnastics team take on Florida, the defending national champions.
The Tigers won 197.950-197.425.
The attendance record shattered at 12,217.
Fans were on their feet, pom-poms in hand cheering. Mike the Tiger rappelled from the ceiling to the gymnastics floor.
Many people there wanted to see their favorite gymnast, Lloimincia Hall, set the tone for the night and seeing her successfully make her vault landing.
Young fans showed their appreciation for the gymnast.
"I just want to be able to be like her so I can do anything," said 9-year-old gymnast Brooks Berner. "I want to be able to flip like that," Berner said.
"I love how you can see all the routines, I like the bars the most," said Allie Pinckard.
The Tigers have beat top teams including Auburn, Arkansas and Georgia, but previously fell to number one Oklahoma.
The next meet is Feb. 27 at Alabama.
