Packages come up missing in Baton Rouge neighborhood

BATON ROUGE - Some packages are coming up missing in one Baton Rouge neighborhood and local authorities are on the case.

Homeowners in the Bel Aire community, near Belaire High School, caught two suspects on camera taking packages from their doorstep.

Police said the surveillance video they obtained from the victims will help them narrow their search for the culprits.

Some people who live in the area said they're used to the crime and they're tired of it.

"A lot of things like that happen back here. People's cars get broken into. People lose packages," said Shawn Bryan, who has lived in the neighborhood for about 20 years.

However, police said something like this can happen anywhere and there are things you can do to protect yourself.

"People can make adjustments. They can have neighbors, that they know may possibly be home, to receive those packages. They can actually pick those packages up from the carriers themselves. They can go to the UPS and the FedEx locations and pick those packages up there. Or they can ask that delivery person to bring those packages to the backside of the house," said Cpl. L'Jean McKneely with the Baton Rouge Police Department.
