Orgeron makes radio debut at LSU Football Interim Head Coach

BATON ROUGE- LSU football die-hards gathered at T.J. Ribs to hear Interim Head Coach Ed Orgeron take to the microphone for the first time on "the Ed Orgeron Show."

In his new position, Orgeron joins "Voice of the Tigers" Chris Blair, speaking with fans about the football season and the LSU team. For many fans, it was their first glimpse into what their team could do under new leadership.

"He's the perfect intermin coach," LSU fan Jackson Carney said, "particularly what he did at USC in 8 games, won 6 of them."

Most fans agreed a change was necessary at LSU, and a renewed energy in the stands and on the field could do the trick.

"He's an excited guy," LSU fan Adam Morgan explained. "Why would you not want to play for Coach O every day? Practices have been shortened. I think we'll have a lot more energy on Saturdays."

"Just from what I've read and seeing his attitude, just something a little different," Joshua Odem said. Odem drove from Alabama to attend the show. "I mean, both good guys, both good coaches."

But while fans are excited to see what could happen, hearing a new voice on the microphone is bittersweet, and a sign the Les Miles era at LSU is finished.

"I'll always hold him to high standards," Odem said.

"Great person, great for the community," Carney agreed. "But from a football perspective, I think it was time to make a change."

Fans said that change would come under the leadership of Coach Orgeron.

"I think definitely be better than they otherwise would have been if they had stayed the course."

"He just brings something a little bit different, a little gumbo to the flavor."
