No block party on Carlotta Street
BATON ROUGE - Police in Baton Rouge said organizers of the annual Carlotta Street Halloween bash have not filed for permits to hold the event, the first time in the past 10 years.
The annual street party near the North Gates of LSU the weekend before Halloween is a big draw each year, including the years before merchants and individuals came together to get permits for the event.
Cpl. Tommy Stubbs with Baton Rouge Police said because no permits were secured, police will "take proactive measures to ensure public safety" in case people come out to party anyway.
Stubbs said uniformed and plain clothes officers will hold foot patrols in the area, watching for violations such as illegal parking, alcohol consumption and loud music.
