New injectable brings relief to cosmetic surgery patients
BATON ROUGE - Cosmetic surgeon Dr. J. Anthony Stephens dropped by our 4 p.m. broadcast today with big news for those who may be hesitant about going through with the surgical procedures they want or need because of the pain associated with post-operative recovery.
The Baton Rouge-based surgeon says a new drug, Exparel, has the capability to keep patients "numbed up" for days following a surgical procedure, making the recovery period much more tolerable than what was once an unavoidable and often unpleasant experience. Exparel is injected into the operative site and works for several days after procedures with especially painful post-operative recovery periods like tummy tucks.
