New EBR pre-K registration starts Monday
BATON ROUGE - For the third year in a row, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System has a different method of pre-kindergarten registration.
For next school year, each child who applies for pre-K will be tested, evaluated, and then placed based on their academic ability.
Those who perform poorly will get priority over those that excel in order to give more attention to those students least-ready for kindergarten.
Parents whose children are not selected to their first choice in school will be offered another school within their district.
Last year, the school system used a lottery for filling the 2,000 spots available. Two years ago, parents waited in line for hours to register their children.
