New developments in Brandon Augusta murder investigation
DONALDSONVILLE - Authorities say there may be new developments in the ongoing investigation of the 2014 murder of Brandon Augusta.
In August, deputies found Augusta's body along the Mississippi River in Donaldsonville. Investigators say the body was beaten so badly that they could not positively identify it at the scene.
Dental records were later used to identify the body as the missing 15-year-old high school freshman.
Law enforcement is still searching for the killer. Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeffrey Wiley set a press conference for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss new developments in the investigation.
Augusta went missing from his residence in Donaldsonville and was last seen getting into a gray car around 1 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2014.
