New details in sex offender's murder; 2 arrested
ZACHARY - New details are emerging about the arrest of two people Wednesday, connected to the murder of a sexual predator.
Robert Noce was killed over the weekend and his body was stuffed into a 55-gallon drum. He was found dead in the drum at his home on South Vernon Road.
Noce was charged with aggravated rape of a child last month. He pleaded down to a felony count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Jace Crehan, 21, and Brittany Monk, 18, are charged with second degree murder in the case.
In arrest affidavits obtained by WBRZ News 2, deputies wrote Monk and Crehan were questioned about the death investigation and Monk voluntarily allowed investigators to take her DNA. Deputies quote Monk as saying her DNA would not be found at the scene since she has not been inside Noce's home for a few years. But, deputies said Monk's DNA was found the drum.
Deputies also wrote in their report, Crehan confessed that he and Monk entered Noce's home without permission, got into struggle with him and Noce was eventually strangled and stabbed.
Sheriff's deputies said they could not comment too much on the case, which is still under investigation. A spokesperson would not say if the murder was an act of vigilante justice.
"It's still very much an on-going investigation. Detectives are still gathering evidence, conducting interviews; so, we really have to be careful about how much we comment," Casey Hicks said.
