Neighborhood rallies after teen killed
PRAIRIEVILLE - A neighborhood is rallying to clean up their neighborhood after a 13-year-old is killed by gunshot.
Christian Crain was shot in the head by his friend. The 14-year-old confessed to smoking marijuana and accidentally shooting Crain.
Neighbors say this was an accident that could have been prevented.
"It's time for somebody to do something," said Ann Thomassie.
Crain, who lived down the road from the neighborhood he frequently plays in, is described by his friends as someone who "always lends a helping hand."
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office says authorities have visited the home where Crain was shot six times just this year.
"It's been going on for years and years," said Nolan Kling. "They need to get rid of it."
To help put an end to neighborhood violence, a neighborhood watch group is organizing help from their church, and alerting law enforcement about any suspicious activity.
