National Healthcare Decisions Day
BATON ROUGE- Tax day is officially over, and it's time to start thinking about healthcare. April 16th is National Healthcare Decisions Day so Dr. Nelson from the Louisiana Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment Coalition stopped by 2une In to talk about what Americans need to know about healthcare.
National Healthcare Decisions Day is a nationwide initiative to increase awareness about advance care planning.
Advance care planning is the way we document our personal goals for healthcare and the treatment preferences to go with it.
Dr. Nelson urged people to start thinking about healthcare early so they can feel safe and secure. The La. Post website has a lot of information that people should consult when looking at healthcare options.
"I want to know that somebody can speak for you when you can't speak for yourself," said Dr. Nelson.
