BATON ROUGE- If you're looking for a career where you can save lives and make a difference, the National EMS Academy is looking for you. They're holding informational sessions in Baton Rouge next week.

Emergency Medical Technicians, or EMTs, perform a wide variety of services to people, including: CPR, emergency response, and injury management. Becoming an EMT can also open up a lot of job opportunities.

"You really don't need a specific background to become an EMT," said David Finley, from the National EMS Academy. "The good thing about getting into EMS is that it's kind of a staged process, so you're eased into it."

The academy will be holding informational classes for people who think they might be interested in becoming an EMT. The classes are being offered on Monday, April 6th and Wednesday April 8th at 9215 Interline Avenue.

A representative from the college will be at the class to provide information and answer questions about the process and fees.

To become a certified EMT you must complete a national certification class that is recognized throughout the United States. Seats are limited to 30 people per class in Baton Rouge.

For more information on becoming an EMT or the informational classes you can visit the National EMS Academy's website.
