Natalia Verdina is a Weekend Anchor and Multimedia Journalist for WBRZ News 2. She joined the station in August 2015.
Previously Verdina was an anchor/reporter for Univision in Raleigh, NC. Her reporting includes the shooting death of Walter Scott, an unarmed black man killed by a white police officer in North Charleston, SC, and the triple shooting in Chapel Hill that claimed the lives of three Muslim students. In 2014, she became an Emmy-nominated reporter for her continuing coverage of racial discrimination complaints against the Durham Police Department. Verdina also contributed reports to ABC11/WTVD, an ABC-owned local television station in the Raleigh-Durham market. Her ability to report in English and Spanish has given her access to stories that would otherwise go untold.
Verdina grew up in four countries, and moved a total of six times. After graduating from the International Baccalaureate program at Escuela Campo Alegre, the American International School in Caracas, Venezuela, she moved on to study journalism at Loyola University New Orleans. In her free time, Verdina loves to hang out with friends and cook whatever craving she can’t shake off. Feel free to write her an email with recipe ideas or news tips: email@example.com.
