Naked woman trashes clothing store, jumps on car

BATON ROUGE - A naked woman was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Wednesday afternoon after she trashed a clothing store and jumped up and down on a parked vehicle while shouting obscenities at passers-by.

52-year-old Elizabeth Ferger was booked on charges of criminal damage to property, obscenity, disturbing the peace and simple battery following her arrest at around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.

EBRSO deputies said they responded to the scene at a clothing store on Jefferson Highway to find about 10 citizens restraining the woman. She was fully naked but did have a blanket partially covering herself.

The store’s manager said Ferger entered the store with only a blanket tied around her and began to shout things about saving the world and ending human trafficking. While yelling obscenities, she began to damage merchandise and generally trash the store, according to deputies.

The owner of the business came at Ferger from behind and tried to prevent further damage by restraining her, but she was able to escape and resume her rampage outside. Outside in the parking lot, she continued to throw items at the building, including a metal table which she threw through a window, shattering it.

Ferger then climbed on top of a parked SUV and began to dance and jump up and down while cursing at passing customers. Deputies said between eight and 10 people eventually restrained the woman until law enforcement arrived on the scene.

Investigators estimate she caused around $8,000 to $10,000 worth of damage during the incident. She was booked into EBR Parish Prison.
