Nail polish protects against date rape

Related Story

Women have a new weapon to protect themselves from date rape: nail polish.

Four North Carolina State University students are developing a polish that can detect drugs associated with date rape. When dipped in a drink, the polish will change colors if the drink is laced. Once the product is released, experts believe it will play a vital role in protecting women from date.

"Date rape is more likely to happen at parties when there's not a controlled bar," relationship expert Donna Barnes explains. "They could have spiked the whole bottle and you would have no idea, but by simply painting your nails, you can be protected."

The undercover nail polish is not available yet. The inventors want to perfect the formula before it hits store shelves.
