NEW ROADS - No one won last night's Powerball jackpot, but someone in New Roads and New Iberia won $1 million.

People eager to win the jackpot, which is now at $700 million, are heading to the convenience store in New Roads, hoping the luck is still there.

"It's here, it's in our town. It's always in other parishes and other towns, so now it's here," said Bernard Davis, a loyal customer.

Though their luck may have failed during last night's drawing, droves of Powerball fans are hoping they'll have more luck in the drawing to come on Saturday.

"I felt like I had a chance, you know, once I found out that nobody won the big jackpot," said Linda Mills.

One thing is for sure, the jackpot will continue to inch higher as hopeful gamblers turn out to buy their tickets ahead of the next drawing. Sales of those tickets stop 59 minutes prior to the drawing, which is scheduled for 9:59 p.m. CST on Saturday. You'll be able to check WBRZ.com for those numbers as soon as they are revealed.
