Murdered man leaves behind fiancee, son before Christmas

PRAIRIEVILLE - Relatives of a murdered Ascension Parish man said they're in shock and doing everything they can to help care for his fiancee and baby boy after a shooting in a busy part of Baton Rouge.

Police said 27-year-old George Reusch Jr. died when he was shot in his vehicle in a shopping center at the corner of Corporate Boulevard and College Drive Monday night. His parents said Reusch had a seven-month-old boy, Roman Kees Reusch, with his fiancee 21-year-old Yasbeth Espinosa.

Now, just a few days before Christmas, Resuch's parents say their late son's family has lost its only provider. They said Reusch, an electrician and bodybuilder, took care of things so his fiancee could be a stay-at-home mother.

BRPD said Reusch was shot around 7:30 p.m., and his vehicle crashed into nearby traffic. Police had to shut down College Drive for a time as they investigated the scene.

Police said two black men were seen running from the scene after the shooting. One man had a slimb build and was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap. The heavier man was wearing a black shirt.
