Motorcycle officer taken off life support
DENHAM SPRINGS - Department officials said a Denham Springs Police officer was taken off life support Tuesday afternoon and died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle wreck.
A department spokesperson said Officer James Foster Jr., 39, was critically injured in the wreck around 6 p.m. Monday night. Investigators said he was driving to investigate a crash when another vehicle turned in front of him, and he struck it. The department said he was driving with lights and sirens activated at the time.
Detectives said the driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield.
Detective Glenn Lemoine told News 2 that Foster had two children, was a great family man and a hard worker, and said his death is a "tragic loss for the department."
