BATON ROUGE-  Baton Rouge Police are after some of the city's most violent offenders in a continuing attack on the root of crime.

The operation took place on Veteran's Day where 31 of 50 people targeted were captured.

Police say they planned for weeks to find repeat felons, felony suspects who skipped court and people with records showing increasing violence toward other people.  Their accused crimes include attempted murder, armed robbery, felony theft and kidnapping, among others.

Officers say this is part of the effort taken a few weeks ago, for about a month, targeting guns and drugs.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, District Attorney's Office, Attorney General and Inspector General's Offices helped track down the suspects.  The U.S. Marshal's, State Police and the Office of Probation and Parole also pitched in for the operation.

Police say they're still on the lookout for those not found last Friday.
