More Livingston Parish road work on the way

DENHAM SPRINGS - Another handful of roads are set for a fix in Livingston Parish since extra road money was added to the pot.

Parish leaders added $750,000 to the road overlay project since sales tax revenues produced more money than expected. This year the parish has fixed around 40 roads.

"I'm glad the businesses are coming to increase the tax revenue so we can get some of the roads around here fixed. They've been needing it for a long time," said resident Jimmy Hollowell.

Beginning in January, contractors will pave Courtney Road from Highway 447 to Courtney Circle. They will also overlay a section of Duff Road and patch areas of Perkins Road.

"It's real bad down there, and every time it rains the potholes wash out and here we go again waiting for another patch job," said Martha Johnson, who lives on Perkins Road.

The parish has already ordered materials for the three roads.
