Mid City Pre-Development Project
BATON ROUGE - The Capital City is in the midst of a redevelopment revolution. Baton Rouge is constantly changing and developing. The latest chapter of the revolution is the old Entergy site on Government Street. Redevelopment Authority President/CEO Gwen Hamilton joined us on 2une In this morning for an update on the progress.
The Entergy Corporation donated the six acre site to the Redevelopment Authority last year. In December, people from all around Baton Rouge came together to discuss its future. There is a meeting scheduled at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m Monday to discuss those ideas.
"The study includes a marketing analysis of the area (and) a housing analysis. It's going to be a great catalyst to revitalize the area," Hamilton explains. "The Department of Public Works is also revitalizing Government Street which will bring that property closer to the street and closer to the people."
At the earlier meetings, there were plenty of ideas of what could end up at that site.
"One of the things that was made very clear is this was a space that was being used to do things that aren't currently being done in Baton Rouge," she told News 2's John Pastorek.
