mickey returns from ankle injury
BATON ROUGE - Jordan Mickey may have only missed one game for the LSU basketball team, but his return to the team prompted teammate Jarell Martin to declare the return of "Batman and Robin."
When asked who was Batman in that scenario, both Martin and Mickey took the credit for the Bruce Wayne role.
In reality, the Tigers can't get very far this season with either player out of the lineup for an extended stretch.
Tigers head coach Johnny Jones said as much on Monday when asked about Mickey's value to the team.
"It's important when Jordan's out there on the floor, both ends of the floor offensively and defensively that he has to make a solid sound impact for us to be successful over the long haul," Jones said.
"I think with he and Jarell Martin: their presence and what they offer to this basketball team - it's important that both of those guys are available for us."
Mickey is averaging 17.8 points per game and 10 rebounds per game.
The Tigers (4-2) will host UMass (5-2) at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center Tuesday night at 6pm.
