Michael Marsh explains road plans
GONZALES - The state announced it is planning two, short-term projects to deal with congestion and safety issues at the Highway 30 interchange with I-10.
One project will install an eastbound left-turn lane from La. 30 to Veterans Boulevard. The other will install an additional eastbound lane from near Ashland Road to I-10.
The state said in an email to news outlets Tuesday, the projects can go to bid in about two years.
DOTD will begin an environmental study and work on designs.
"Travelers on La. 30 should experience a definite improvement in travel time once these projects are complete," DOTD Secretary Sherri LeBas said. "While our modeling shows a time savings during all peak driving times, the greatest time savings of nearly 40 percent will occur during the afternoon peak hours."
