BATON ROUGE - Nearly 100 years since the first graduating class, McKinley High School in Baton Rouge is proud of their history.

They're looking forward to the future next week and inviting the public to join them at their annual fundraising event. Rev. Dale Flowers joined News Two's Kylie Dixon on 2une In Tuesday with the details.

"You'll find McKinley graduates all over town, all over the state, all over the United States," he explains. "We're proud of our accomplishments, we're proud of what those individuals have done and we're proud of the students that are there now."

McKinley High School is the oldest-existing traditional high school in this area. Next week's fundraiser will benefit the McKinley High Alumni Center (1520 Thomas H. Delpit), which is the school's original site.

"We want to ensure that we keep this center going and continue the work we're doing in the community so we can continue the legacy of that center," Rev. Flowers says.

The McKinley High Alumni Association Awards Banquet is Saturday, November 22nd at Boudreaux's (2647 Government St.) in Baton Rouge. The event begins at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the McKinley High Alumni Center.
