Man's body found, murdered
ST. GABRIEL- Sheriff's deputies in Iberville are looking into the possibility that a body found along the Mississippi River was dumped there by a killer.
The body was discovered Friday off River Road about a quarter of a mile south of the ferry landing. Someone walking nearby saw it and called authorities.
The sheriff said the scene looks to be that of a homicide.
Investigators from Iberville Parish are now talking with police in Baton Rouge because the male body matches the description of a man reported missing from the Capital City.
Stassi said a car tied to the missing person was found burned in Ascension Parish earlier this week.
Iberville deputies are working with the LSP violent crimes unit during this investigation.
Authorities believe the body has been in the elements for several days.
The identity has not been released.
