Man rescued after being pinned on tractor
SAINT FRANCISVILLE - A West Feliciana man is recovering after he was pinned by a tree while working on land near Cat Island.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Austin Daniel said the tree pinned George Woodside on his tractor, and he couldn't reach to turn the machine off. He could keep the clutch pushed down, which kept the tractor in place and kept the tree from crushing him.
Emergency crews had a difficult time finding Woodside because of the remote location where he was working. His wife spoke to crews over the phone, helping guide them to the area.
Sheriff Daniel says Woodside received no broken bones or serious injuries. He urged anyone working in the woods or other remote locations to keep a cell phone handy or work with a partner.
