Man got cell phone call before murdered
BATON ROUGE- Witnesses said a man shot in front of his apartment got a phone call just before he was killed.
Lt. Don Kelly with Baton Rouge Police said Clement "Mark" Legea, 45, was found dead lying on the sidewalk inside an apartment complex at 11445 Bard Street just after midnight today.
"I heard two shots went off and after I heard the two shots, I heard a lady scream real loud," said Roland Lewis, who lives near the murder scene.
Residents rushed to help Legea, who was gasping for air, but died before paramedics could help.
People in the area say the complex is normally quiet and the murder is a shock.
"I've never heard about anything like this happening, I've never seen anything like this happening," said Danel Baker, who lives in the complex. "It was like a typical night, but I guess anything can happen anywhere."
Kelly said they were still looking for a male dressed in dark clothing who was seen running from the scene, and who is suspected to be involved in the shooting.
Kelly said while they are still working to positively determine the motive for the shooting, it appeared to have been drug-related.
Anyone with information about this killing should call the Baton Rouge Police Homicide Division at (225) 389-4869.
