"Man Boobs" could be linked to illegal drug use
BATON ROUGE - Urban legends that marijuana use could cause "man boobs" may have more truth behind it than people think.
The condition, scientifically known as gynecomastia, triggers men to grow breast tissue. There aren't many studies that can prove the legend wrong since marijuana is still largely illegal in the United States.
However, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Stephens said one study did find marijuana use throws off the body's hormone levels, and with them out of sync estrogen levels rise, triggering the growth.
