Man arrested twice on same night for DWI

BATON ROUGE- A man with a troubled history of getting arrested for driving while intoxicated managed to get arrested twice in the same night for DWI recently.

Investigators said this past weekend's arrests bring his total of DWI arrests up to 12. It's unclear how many of those resulted in convictions.

"The law says convictions must be within a ten year period of time," Moore said. "I don't know where the history is of where they occurred or valid convictions, were rights read and had proper counsel," District Attorney Hillar Moore said.

Jeffrey Blough, 51, was first arrested in Denham Springs on March 19. Investigators said they showed up to a motel in the city limits where he had been involved in a crash. Blough was taken to the Denham Springs Police Department where he was charged with DWI, parked in a handicap spot and having an open container. Blough was administered a Breathalyzer, where investigators said he blew a .183.

Blough was taken into custody around 9pm. He bonded out at 11:35pm.

Hours after posting nearly a $2,000 bond, he was back out on the roads again. This time, he caused a more serious crash according to investigators in East Baton Rouge Parish on I-12. It left one person seriously hurt.

District Attorney Hillar Moore called the two arrests in one night alarming.

"Obviously pretty troubling conduct," Moore said. "Knowing what I know about the Denham Springs arrest and the limit he blew to get back in the car and injure people, that's a dangerous offense."

Because courts were closed today, it was impossible to check on the disposition of Blough's other DWI's.
