Man accused of killing girlfriend, abducting kids captured in Texas
JEFFERSON PARISH - Jefferson Parish deputies say the man they believe killed his girlfriend and abducted three children Sunday morning has been captured at a trailer park in Katy, TX.
The sheriff's office says the father, Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, 43, took the three kids after murdering their mother at a Metairie apartment.
Deputies say Monterroso-Navas, who is also known as Wilson Rigoberto Mena, abducted Jessica Nicolle Monterroso, 14, Yojan Manuel Monterroso-Flores, 4, and Jafet Abigaitl Monterroso-Monroy, 2. The kids were still with him at the time of the arrest and are now in custody of Texas authorities.
The sheriff's office say Monterroso-Navas was captured after investigators intercepted a phone call between his child and a female friend who was staying the area. The mother of that child call deputies with information of his whereabouts.
Officials were first notified about the incident after two other children, a 5-year-old and 8-year-old, knocked on their neighbors door saying their mother needed help.
Pedro Alberto Monterosso- Navas is charged with second-degree murder.
