Man accused in American Legion heist
PONCHATOULA- Police said a man has been stealing from a veterans group for years and was arrested after a lengthy investigation.
"Randy" Baldini, 62, is accused of taking $70,000 from the American Legion in the town; siphoning money since 1999 police said. ActionNews17.com reported Baldini was cashing in certificates of deposit and is cooperating with investigators.
"Hopefully, he'll be able to make restitution and we can all move forward from this event," Chief Bry Layrisson said.
One of the Legion's largest events happened Monday, on Veterans Day, when 58 flag poles were dedicated at the Ponchatoula Cemetery.
