Malnourished horse found dead at airport
BATON ROUGE - Authorities found a dead horse tied to a concrete barrier near the Baton Rouge Metro Airport this morning, and are searching for its owner.
Hilton Cole, the parish animal control director, said the malnourished horse was tied to the barrier with a tow strap. They believe it was on someone's trailer overnight, and left for dead on the airport's property.
Cole said the horse was tagged with an RF chip, which should make identifying its owner much easier. He said the owner faces possible charges of animal cruelty, illegal dumping and trespassing, among others.
News 2 will have more on this investigation tonight at 5 and 6.
