Made in Louisiana: Grandmother's Buttons

Related Story

ST. FRANCISVILLE- For most of us, buttons decorate our shirts and blouses, but for Susan Davis, buttons are her business.

30 years ago, before Davis' button empire was established, she received inspiration from visits to her grandmother's house. That's where the name, ‘Grandmother's Buttons', originated.

According to Davis, her grandmother kept everything...including 30 boxes of buttons.

"I did my first craft show, came home with $1,000, and I was like, ‘this is what I'm going to do,'" said Davis.

Now her flagship store in downtown St. Francisville is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

It's a delicate process that begins with a single button, and can be made into necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.

Davis and her family just opened a new store on Magazine St. in New Orleans. You can find more information on Susan's shop in West Feliciana Parish here.
