LSU plans to tackle game day traffic issues

BATON ROUGE - The LSU Athletic Department outlined the results of a game day parking and traffic study to the LSU Board of Supervisors Friday.

Athletic Director Joe Alleva says correcting the traffic issue is the department's top priority with football season just months away. The traffic consultant study showed that the university's current plans are good but needed to be implemented better in the future.

Alleva says contraflow is something that LSU and Baton Rouge need to work out to ease the flow of traffic. LSU also plans to add temporary parking at the site of the Nicholson Apartments that are being torn down.

The traffic consultant also suggested eliminating parking and tailgating along Nicholson Drive. Alleva says that's not an option, because many fans use that area on Saturdays.
