LSU loss to Arkansas Hoover Wrap
HOOVER, Al. - Aaron Nola tallied eight strikeouts in seven innings and Alex Bregman gave the Tigers a head start 1-0 lead with a single in the third inning, but it wasn't enough for #2 LSU to hold on vs Arkansas Thursday night. The Razorbacks came up with clutch hitting down the stretch to pull out the 4-1 victory over the second-ranked Tigers.
The highly-billed pitchers' duel lived up to the acclaim; Ryne Staneck struck out four, walked three, and only allowed one run in eight innings pitched, while Nola allowed only one earned run on six hits.
LSU will now play Alabama in an elimination game Friday at 3pm, while Arkansas will have the day off to play the winner of the LSU-Alabama showdown Saturday at noon.
