LSU beats Vandy in Hoover
HOOVER, Al. - This is the matchup the players and fans wanted: #1 vs #2 in the SEC Tournament Final.
LSU got off to a good start, posting three runs in the top of the 2nd inning on a single by Jared Foster, a base hit by Andrew Stevenson, and then a sac fly by Sean McMullen. Vanderbilt then responded in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI ground out to second and a single up the middle to plate two runs.
It was back-and-forth even in the seventh inning when Vandy put across two runs to tie the game at 4. Chris Cotton got the win for the Tigers after he came in to pitch 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief through the eleventh, and final, inning.
Chris Sciambra came off the LSU bench to single to center and bring home the game-winning run(Jared Foster).
This is Paul Mainieri's fourth SEC Tournament Championship.
