BATON ROUGE - Cadet class #93, reported for training Sunday for the intensive 20 weeks of defensive tactics, pursuit driving, firearms and ethics training.

Upon completion the 72 cadets will earn the title to become Louisiana State Troopers.

Louisiana State Police Superintendent, Col. Mike Edmonson says, "This badge that we have this is not something that the public just gives us, it's not a right passage. We don't have a right to it it's a privilege. It's of the public allows us to wear and there expectations to what we go through to earn ought to be at the highest level."

This is the second state police class to be held in six years, since the graduation of 46 troopers in spring of 2014.

State police say the training is so rigorous, they expect of the 72 cadets an estimated 20-30 will drop out of training before graduation.
