LSO Hat Run
BATON ROUGE- Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. The Lauren Savoy Olinde foundation wants those numbers to change. One way they're doing that is by hosting the 3rd annual Hat Run this weekend. Sarah Lomax Gray and Dr. Nicole Mathis stopped by 2une In this morning to talk more about the event.
The LSO foundation's Hat Run is being held this Saturday at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. It's $30 for adults to register, and $15 for kids. The event will be held rain or shine, and will include a free skin cancer screening for the general public.
"When caught early Melanoma is 98% curable," said Mathis. "We always have people come in for yearly skin checks, just to make sure all of your moles are normal."
The Hat Run will begin at 8 a. m. You can still register for the event on-site. For more information about the run or the Laura Savoy Olinde foundation, you can visit their website here.
