Louisiana health insurance company extends its deadline
BATON ROUGE- One Louisiana insurance company is extending its deadline to signup for Obamacare and still have coverage by January 1st.
Vantage Health Inc., based out of Monroe, is giving people until Tuesday, December 31st, to buy healthcare policies through the federal marketplace.
The company is giving people more time because of the hassle some had trying to enroll earlier this week.
The official deadline was this past Monday, but the Obama administration pushed the deadline back a day because of problems on the marketplace website.
Health Agents for America, a group that assists people with enrolling for affordable healthcare, says this extension is welcome news.
"It helps because with the website still having some issues, there are citizens out there that need coverage," said Ronnell Nolan.
People enrolling with Vantage by next Tuesday will be required to pay their first month's premium by the 15th of January. If the payment is made after that date, their coverage date will roll forward to February 1st.
