Lawn maintenance crews, nurseries booming
BATON ROUGE - Velton Ross says his lawn service normally has a lull for about three weeks during the winter. The mild weather conditions prevented that from happening this year.
Ross says that is good financially and good for his physical condition. He says he has not gained weight during the time off. Ross says orders for yard service is up about 25 % over the same time last year.
Louisiana Nursery and Landscape owner Mitch Mayes says more and more customers are filing into his shop.
Mayes says there is a big advantage to planting this time of year. According to Mayes, plants have time to become more established before the extreme heat in the summer.
Mayes says customers may have a smaller selection of plants and trees to chose from over the next few weeks. He says customers may find special deals on items early in the season.
