La. teen gains online attention for serenade on debris-filled street
BATON ROUGE - Bringing beauty amongst the chaos, pianist Mark Chasuk is gaining viral attention online after a video showing him playing piano in the middle of a debris-covered road was posted.
16-year-old Chasuk found a piano next to a pile of debris.
"I was wondering if it was still playable," he said, "so I went up to it, and I sat down and I started banging out the piece."
The song featured in the video is "Tarantella" by Albert Pieczonka. Chasuk says "it's a lot of fun to play."
In the video, you can see homes, destroyed by flood water, gutted out by their owners. The piano is just one of the many items Chasuk's friends lost during the flood.
"It took of four feet like the rest of the house."
Chasuk was helping clean out the house before testing out the piano.
"The family that I was helping out with, I mean, they pretty much lost everything."
Chasuk's video has received millions of views online. He say's he enjoys seeing how it's affected people.
"I was on Facebook a while ago," he said, "and seeing the people that reshared it, and reading all they said about how uplifting it was and how it kind of inspired them."
