La\'el Collins dominates award season

When offensive tackle La'el Collins made the decision to stay for his senior year, he was going against the recent trends at LSU. In the past two years alone, 17 Tigers have declared early for the NFL draft.

Well it looks like his patience will pay off, literally.

After a standout senior year, the former Redemptorist star is racking in all types of awards this week. He was just named a USA Today All-American Thursday. He's been named first team All-SEC by the Coaches and Associated Press. He was also awarded the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given to the SEC's most outstanding blocker.

Collins is now projected to be a top 10-15 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. For him, the decision to return to LSU for one final year is not only validated by all he's accomplished, but also by the example he can show of patience working in your favor.

"It speaks volumes. You can always hope for things to be the way you want them to be but at the end of the day, you just have to go with your gut feeling," Collins said. "And just being able to make a sound decision like that, I think that's the best decision I've made so far in my life."
