La'el Collins at Boys and Girls Club
BATON ROUGE - When La'el Collins said he would return to play football for his senior year at LSU, the Tigers offensive lineman privately made a vow to give back to the charity that gave so much to him.
That's why last week, Collins visited with the BREC/Alaksa Street Boys and Girls Club of Baton Rouge:to begin what Collins says is a year-long effort to spend time with the youngsters, just like the employees and volunteers at Boys and Girls Club once did for him.
Collins attended the Boys and Girls Club from 4th to 6th grade, and he credits his time there for much of his maturation at that time.
Now, while Collins prepares to lead the Tigers offensive line in 2014, he says he'll be back at the Boys and Girls Club on Alaska Street often.
"Being able to come back and put a smile on these kids' faces means everything to me," Collins said.
