BATON ROUGE - Domestic violence service providers across Louisiana are worried about their future.

They are afraid Governor Bobby Jindal's proposed budget will pass among lawmakers and pass along a funding 38% cut.

The Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence has been collecting data about domestic violence related services in the state for years. Executive Director Beth Meeks said right now, 35 of 64 parishes are being served. If the budget cuts go through, Meeks said only 20 parishes will be served.

The coalition is asking supporters to join them on Tuesday, April 16th at the Capitol steps at 9am. The organization is asking concerned people, domestic violence survivors and anyone interested in supporting the cause to attend.
