LA 1 open after tanker crash
PORT ALLEN - More than five hours after a tanker overturned, Louisiana State Police opened LA-1 under the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge.
The northbound lanes had been closed since about 9 a.m. Traffic leaders were working to clear the wreckage by the evening rush.
The Port Allen Fire Department said the truck's tank ripped open and spilled ammonium nitrate fertilizer during the impact.
The leak is under control, but the fire department expects LA-1 to be shutdown for "many hours".
No one was injured in the accident, and authorities said they will cite the driver for losing control of his vehicle.
