Just One Station: Witness account of car falling off the interstate
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police say Cody Holmes, 22, was killed when his 2003 Ford F-150 flipped over the I-10 guardrail onto the ground below Friday night near the Perkins Road overpass.
Officials say Holmes was the driver of the vehicle. He was speeding on I-10 east and was trying to pass another vehicle on the inside shoulder. Police say Holmes was under the influence of alcohol and wasn't wearing a seat belt.
The vehicle landed upside down and hit a 2014 Hyundai Sonata on the ground in the parking lot between Ivar's and ZeeZee's Gardens. None of the people in the Hyundai were injured.
Two other passengers, a 23-year-old and a 2-year-old, were taken to the hospital. The 2-year-old is in stable condition and the 23-year-old had serious injuries.
Rescue crews were on scene for more than two hours getting survivors out of the car.
