Judge: No second vote for home rule charter
ST. FRANCISVILLE - A judge ruled against police jurors' efforts today to stop changes to West Feliciana Parish's system of government.
Judge William Carmichael upheld an injunction requested by voters to stop jurors from holding another election over the home rule charter already approved by a public vote last November.
Some jurors wanted a second vote taken this October, and voters filed suit in response.
Today's ruling means the parish will continue with work to replace its current police jury system.
News 2's Michael Shingleton will have more on the decision and what's next for the parish tonight.
