Jambalaya Festival in Gonzales tests local chefs' mettle
GONZALES - Tucked into what is shaping up to be an activity packed long weekend in the Capital Area, the Jambalaya Festival in Gonzales is sure to bring plenty of family, food and music together all the way into Sunday.
The crown jewel of the weekend festival is the jambalaya cook off that pits some of the area's best chefs against one another in a battle of the wooden paddles. The culinary wars will be waged on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and again on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the champion announced on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
Other activities to complement the cooking include music, a 5K run and a carnival so there is sure to be something to draw every member of the family into the fun. For a full schedule of events, check out the festival's website.
