Jaguars staying healthy for homecoming
BATON ROUGE - Members of the Jaguar Nation spent the end of homecoming week working to get fit and healthy.
Students at Southern University participated in workout sessions organized as part of the two weeks of celebrations for the school's centennial at Scott's Bluff.
Students said they're happy the university is interested in promoting good health among the Jaguars.
"I think it's awesome because it's great when you have a school uniting together, to get every student on one track to be healthy," said Diarra Bryant, who took part in the workout session.
The event is part of a partnership with Essence Magazine for the school's "Jags Get Fit" initiative. Essence also donated $2,000 to the school's 365 Jaguar Fund for scholarships.
Southern will take on the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff for its homecoming game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
