Injured deputy Nick Tullier says "Hello"
HOUSTON, Tx. - East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputy Nick Tullier's fiancée posted a new video Monday showing him speaking as he continues his recovery.
In the video posted by Tullier's fiancée, Danielle, he is shown saying the word "hello". This development comes after nearly a year of recovery following an officer-involved shooting in Baton Rouge in 2016.
Updates from Tullier's family over the past several months have shown the deputy as he worked to regain his motor functions following the shooting.
Deputy Tullier was shot and injured in the ambush last July on Airline Highway. He spent months hospitalized in Baton Rouge before moving to The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) at Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston's Texas Medical Center.
